It’s quite possible that someone you knew or were introduced to helped you get to where you are today. That person may have been a friend or a total stranger who took a chance on you, because they saw something in you. Whether it was a short conversation, an introduction to another person or a job opportunity, it helped you to move in a direction that supported your personal success. Investing time in a relative stranger who needs career advice or a point in the right direction is an important way to “pay it forward”.
Harvard Business Review shares a wonderful article “Make a Stranger Believe In You”. It reminds us not only of the importance of reaching out, but of helping others. It could be a cup of coffee or an informational interview that you accept that changes someone’s whole path.
